Clear out, cash in, and connect on the 2025 Garage Sale Trail

This November, community members across the New England will join the nationwide Garage Sale Trail. Held on the weekends of 8 – 9 and 15 – 16 November 2025, the event will bring together neighbours, bargain-hunters and sustainability advocates. The Trail invites households and local businesses to open their garages, driveways or spare rooms for a weekend of preloved treasures, upcycling, and community spirit.

Now in its ninth year, Garage Sale Trail has grown into one of Australia’s largest reuse events — in 2025, organisers anticipate more than 7,600 garage sales and over 1.8 million preloved items on offer across the country. For our region, this is an excellent chance to clear out clutter, earn a little extra, and meet neighbours in a fun, locally rooted marketplace.

Garage Sale Trail offers free listing, promotional support, signage, and tips to help participants run a standout sale. It’s not just about selling — organisers emphasise waste reduction, giving goods a second life, and building connections around reuse. Community partners across the region, including the Australian Men’s Shed Association and the Local Community Services Association are rallying to support the event with marketing, resources, and volunteers.

For the first time this year, the kids are also invited to get involved. Sponsored by dirtgirlworld, kids of all ages are encouraged to take part in the trail, while also learning about sustainability by giving their toys, clothes and books a second life, all while making a bit of pocket money along the way.

In the lead-up, local households will register their garage sales online, mapping them so shoppers can follow a trail through neighbourhoods. On the event weekends, maps and online listings will guide visitors through clusters of sales — a treasure hunt of sorts. Families, collectors, DIYers and bargain-seekers will all find something interesting, from furniture and tools to books, plants, craft supplies, clothing and more.

It’s not too late to get involved – if you’d like to host a sale, register via the Garage Sale Trail website before the spots fill (stallholder places are limited and often fill fast). If you prefer to shop, simply explore the interactive map and plan your route. Even without a garage, participants can host table-top or small pop-ups in communal spaces.

Many local businesses and individuals are joining or supporting the trail. Suburbs with listings so far include:

  • Emmaville
  • Glen Innes
  • Armidale
  • Uralla
  • Puddledock
  • Kentucky
  • Quirindi
  • Murrurundi
  • Tamworth

For a full and up-to-date list of who is participating, what they’re selling, and their address, visit the Garage Sale Trail website.

This is a terrific opportunity to turn clutter into cash, foster reuse, and mingle with neighbours. Mark your calendars, plan your trail, and get ready to explore the best of preloved finds right on your doorstep.
