Body found in Markham St home triggering investigation

Police have commenced an investigation after the body of a man was located at a home in Armidale today.

Emergency services were called to a home on Markham Street, opposite the Armidale TAFE campus, just after 8am this morning (13 October 2025), where the body of a man was located.

The man, believed to be aged in his 70s, is yet to be formally identified.

The death is being treated as suspicious, and officers attached to New England Police District established a crime scene which is being examined by specialist forensic officers.

The site was still taped off this afternoon with multiple detectives on site. Rangers from Armidale Regional Council were also called in to help manage dogs at the property.

A 25-year-old man – who lives at the home – has been taken to hospital for assessment.

Detectives have commenced an investigation, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad under Strike Force Kastelic, and investigations are ongoing.
