A night of magic returns with NEGS annual twilight fair

Armidale is set to light up as the much-loved NEGS Twilight Fair returns on Friday, 7 November, transforming the school’s historic grounds into a magical wonderland of lights, laughter and community connection.

The annual event has become a highlight on the local calendar, drawing families from across Armidale and the New England region for an evening filled with entertainment, food, artisan goods, and family fun.

“The NEGS Twilight Fair has become a cherished tradition not just for our school families, but for the entire Armidale and New England region,” said Principal Liz van Genderen.

“It’s an evening where neighbours become friends, local businesses shine, and children’s imaginations soar.”

“We’re inviting everyone to join us for what promises to be our most magical fair yet,” she said.

From 4pm to 8pm, visitors will be treated to a packed program of activities catering to all ages. Children can enjoy live pony rides, face painting, and creative arts and crafts sessions, while live music will showcase local talent. Food stalls will serve up a variety of delicious treats, and artisan vendors will offer handcrafted gifts, fashion and treasures.

Adding to the excitement, NEGS students from Pre-Kindergarten through to Year 11 will run their own stalls, demonstrating entrepreneurial skills and creativity with everything from homemade cakes and lemonade to recycled fashion boutiques and plant nurseries.

The fair also features a popular raffle, with a range of prizes generously donated by local businesses. Tickets will be available throughout the evening, with organisers encouraging everyone to take part.

For local businesses and artisans, the event is an opportunity to connect with the community and showcase their products to hundreds of potential customers.

“We’re looking for vendors who want to be part of something special,” said Dr Fiona Macarthur, P&F President.

“Whether you’re selling handmade jewellery, gourmet treats, or unique gifts, the Twilight Fair provides the perfect platform to showcase your business to our vibrant community.”

Over the years, the Twilight Fair has grown from a simple school fundraiser into one of Armidale’s most anticipated community events.

All proceeds from the event support educational programs and resources for NEGS students, ensuring every purchase and activity contributes to enriching young lives.

The 2025 NEGS Twilight Fair will be held on Friday, 7 November from 4pm to 8pm on the NEGS grounds in Armidale. Entry is free, with on-site parking available, and the event is fully accessible.
