The highly anticipated Guyra TroutFest is set to reel in a spectacular program of entertainment this Labour Day long weekend.
The festivities kick off on Friday, 3 October, with an evening of uproarious laughter and classic Australian storytelling.
Festival organiser and musician Neil McLeod said that with a diverse lineup promising laughter, music, poetry, and dancing, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
“Prepare for sidesplitting comedy from Aussie comedy legend Austen Tayshus, joined by award-winning bush poets Paddy O’Brien and Dave Melville,” Mr McLeod said.
“TroutFest brings together locals and visitors for a long weekend of entertainment, culture, and community spirit. We are proud of our annual community event, which celebrates the opening of the trout season and the unique character and beauty of Guyra.”
On Saturday, 4 October, Guyra will transform into a bustling hub of activity with a vibrant street market during the day. Local talent will shine bright, with a busking competition providing an opportunity for performers to highlight their skills.
As evening descends, the competition will heat up with a thrilling Saturday night band contest.
Sunday, 5 October promises a relaxed yet lively atmosphere, with a full day of music and barefoot bowls from 11 am to 6 pm.
“The festival’s focus on local artists is a celebration of the vibrant music scene in the region,” Mr McLeod said.
“Featured bands in the lineup include The Warts, The Axemen, Dead Life Co-Op, Partyline, Soberphobia, and Skinner Boys, along with many other acts. We are thrilled to be playing with this incredible lineup of local musicians and to bring music to Guyra.”
“It’s a great way to showcase our community’s talent and provide a fun, free event for everyone.”
On Sunday night, prepare for a unique and electrifying experience as “The Guyra TroutFest Mirror Ball” takes over the Australian Poetry Hall of Fame.
“From 8 pm, the dance floor will ignite as the all-ages dance party continues celebrations into the night, offering a unique close-up look at the festival,” Mr McLeod said.
“So, slip on your shufflin’ shoes and head down for what will be an amazing party, celebrating the raw talent of a few of our own homegrown and visiting artists.”
“We welcome families and music lovers of all ages to enjoy great music and community spirit, and there will be a range of stalls and plenty of food and drinks on offer.”
The long weekend concludes on Monday, 6 October, with a serene and sophisticated afternoon of classical music, providing a perfect wind-down to the exciting four days.
“Come along and help create an unforgettable festival for Guyra,” said Mr McLeod.
