After school treats are aplenty at new Albert Street Bakery ‘House of DeliciousNESS’

Mayor Cr Susannah Pearse and Deputy Mayor Wayne Tighe, with DeliousNESS owner Vanessa Smolders at her new premises on Albert Street, Moree.

Ms. Smolders is well known in Moree for her amazing cupcakes and baked treats as the owner of catering business DelicousNESS, and now her treats are more accessible than ever.

As a successful recipient of $5,000 under Moree Plain Shire Council’s 2025 Small Business Fund, Vanessa says the money awarded through Council’s Small Business Fund has allowed her to realise her dream of opening a ‘hole in the wall’ bakery café at her home in Albert Street, Moree, and utilised the money to purchase three stainless steel benches and commission design plans.

Directly opposite Moree Public School, operating Wednesday to Sunday 7am to 12pm and extended school hours on Wednesday to Friday 2pm to 4pm, Vanessa believes it’s the perfect location to offer milkshakes and baked goods to the previously underserviced ‘after school’ market.

“It is wonderful to see Vanessa taking the initiative of opening up a new business in Moree. That is the benefit of applying for funding through Council, it allows entrepreneurs and start-ups a helping hand to explore ideas.” said Mayor Susannah Pearse.

Council’s Small Business Fund which has so far awarded $58,101 across 14 projects with the aim to encourage and support positive economic activity that will contribute to the growth and progress of our Shire.
