Celebrate Father’s Day with country charm across New England

Father’s Day is just around the corner, Sunday, 7 September, and the New England region is set to celebrate in true country style. Two much-loved community events, the Kootingal Country Fair and the Moree Father’s Day Special Markets, are promising fun, food, and plenty of family time.

In Kootingal, the Recreation Reserve will come alive from 9.30 am with more than 90 stallholders offering everything from handmade crafts and local produce to delicious treats to share with Dad. There’ll be live music, wood-turning displays, kids’ activities, and of course, the ever-popular Kootingal Moonbi Motor Club Car Show, always a hit with car lovers young and old.

“We’ve got something for everyone, for the kids we have pony rides, a jumping castle and, not two but 2 face painters this year to cut down on lines,” said Don Grant from the Kootingal Recreation Reserve Committee.

“Theres 90 stallholders, 10 food vendors and live acts all day, kicking off with Matt Scullion, then new local band The Horizon will play and we’ll finish off with the ever-popular Matt Barratt and his crew who never disappoint.”

Entry for the day is by gold coin donation.

“Every little bit goes towards keeping things like this running at the Kootingal Recreation Reserve and, if you can drop a note in the box instead of a coin you get an entry into our lucky door prize. The local businesses have really got behind us and we’ve still got prizes coming in so there’ll be some great stuff to be won,” said Mr Grant.

Meanwhile, up in Moree, the heart of town will transform into a bustling marketplace from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families can stroll through stalls packed with fresh produce, plants, gifts, fashion, and homewares, while enjoying live entertainment and tasty food. It’s the perfect way to relax, shop, and soak up the festive spirit together.

“The highlight for the day is always the Moree Motor Enthusiasts Club’s Show and Shine, they’ll be bringing lots of beautiful old and classic vehicles down to be admired on the day,” said Lil Fisher from the Moree Markets.

“And of course all our usual fantastic stallholders will be there but, if you can’t find something to buy, make sure you consider visiting one of the local charities, we’ll have quite a few with stalls there on Sunday and they have some fantastic Father’s Day raffles going.”

Wherever you are on the day and whatever you’re doing, these events are about more than just shopping—they’re about coming together, making memories, and celebrating the dads and father figures who make a difference in our lives.
