Children across the Armidale region are set for a winter break filled with creativity, curiosity, and community, thanks to a fun school holiday program led by Armidale Regional Libraries.

Starting this Monday 7 July, both Armidale and Guyra Libraries will begin a diverse lineup of activities designed to engage children of all ages. From arts and crafts to LEGO building, science experiments to songwriting, and even computer programming and virtual reality experiences — there’s something for every young mind.

“Our region’s libraries are well-known for their diverse and interesting programs,” said Armidale Regional Council Mayor Sam Coupland.

“We love our books, but the libraries are so much more than books alone!”

In addition to the in-library activities, a cross-community treasure hunt will add an extra layer of adventure. Children can embark on a morse code quest, discovering clues at the Armidale Folk Museum, Armidale Library, and the Visitor Information Centre.

This initiative by Armidale Folk Museum builds on the success of last holiday’s morse code activity, which received an enthusiastic response from local families.

“The school holiday programs are intended to be inclusive, educational, and—most importantly—fun!” Mayor Coupland said.

Families are encouraged to check the council’s website and social media channels for full program details.
