Pathfinders in Inverell has welcomed a generous $6,500 donation from New England Chiropractic, as part of the organisation’s annual Christmas giving initiative.

Dr Janine Kinahan, Principal Chiropractor at New England Chiropractic, explained that for several days leading up to Christmas, the clinic donates every dollar from their adjustment services and does not keep a cent.

“It’s a fun and meaningful way for our clients to feel good from their adjustments while also doing something good for the community,” she said.

The donation, which includes contributions from the clinic and personal donations from the chiropractors, will go directly to the Inverell Women’s and Children’s Refuge, which supports families escaping domestic and family violence.

The refuge provides essential, short-term crisis accommodation and supports women and their children as they begin the challenging process of rebuilding their lives. Often, families leave unsafe environments with very little, sometimes nothing at all. When they are able to leave the refuge, many are starting over with very limited resources.

The refuge helps by supplying basic living essentials such as toiletries, bedding, kitchenware, clothing and school items to assist these families in settling into their new homes.

“This donation will help provide winter essentials to keep families warm and comfortable during these colder months. “

Part of this donation will also be used to upgrade the outdoor play area and shared garden space at the refuge. These common areas are especially important, offering children a safe place to play, heal, and experience joy during an incredibly difficult time. They also provide families with a safe space to spend time together, which can make a significant difference in their recovery.

“We are so grateful for this generous contribution. It will help us continue to provide vital support to women and children in crisis, while also improving our facilities to create a safer, more welcoming space for the families who come through our doors.” Liesel Taber, Pathfinders Women’s and Children’s Refuge Manager said.
