Tamworth’s Drip and Sip Party brings style and sustainability to the fore

Tamworth’s fashion and food scenes are joining forces for a one-night-only celebration of style, sustainability, and community spirit.

Hosted by Talking Threads and Camp Grounds café, the Drip and Sip Party is set to transform the Talking Threads store into a vibrant runway-meets-pop-up-bar on Friday, June 20.

The event, described as a “party with purpose,” brings together curated vintage fashion, natural wines, and a high-energy atmosphere, all in the name of conscious consumption and community connection.

Talking Threads, a local not-for-profit championing sustainable style, will showcase a handpicked selection of thrifted, vintage, and upcycled fashion. The runway will come to life thanks to a dynamic group of volunteer models and stylists, each lending their own flair to the evening.

“I’ve had this idea that I really wanted to do a collaborative event for a while and I’d been admiring Camp Grounds Coffee Shop, they’ve just got this great atmosphere and a really similar retro aesthetic to us.” said Owner of Talking Threads, Emily Honess.

“So, I approached Matt [Bettesworth] and he said that they were looking at moving into wines so it ended up being this really great opportunity for us to combine forces and turn this into a beautiful event.”

Drip and Sip guests can sip on Lo-Fi wines while enjoying gourmet bites from the Camp Grounds kitchen—each dish designed to reflect the energy and ethos of the night. Local Groove DJs will keep the beats flowing, and the event will be hosted by ABC New England North West’s own Natacha Curnow.

“It’s been really wonderful how much the local community has got on board with this event – the feedback we’ve got is just how excited people are to be involved in something that’s creative and good for the community,” said Ms Honess.

“All our models, backstage helpers and hair and make up artists are local volunteers who responded to our Facebook shout-out.”

Beyond the runway, guests are encouraged to dig deep for a good cause. Raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the night, raising funds for Anglicare’s Community Pantry, which supports local residents in need. With over $4000 in prizes up for grabs, there’s more than one reason to get involved.

“Laura Hughes has kindly donated a week away in her Mylestom holiday home which was originally going to be a lucky door prize but then we thought why not make it bigger and run a raffle to raise some money for Anglicare,” said Ms Honess.

After the show, the fashion doesn’t stop. Attendees will have an exclusive opportunity to shop the runway, with late-night access to the featured looks and the chance to meet the curators behind them.

“This definitely won’t be our last event, this one is already shaping up to be hugely popular and we’ve got lots more ideas for collaboration within the community and I can’t wait to host more events,” said Ms Honess.

Whether you’re a fashion lover, foodie, or just keen for a good time with heart, the Drip and Sip Party promises a night of flair, flavour, and forward-thinking fun, make sure you don’t miss out on your ticket to Talking Threads’s first event.

Tickets are $45 each and available now via Humanitix. The event will take place at Talking Threads, 529 Peel Street, Tamworth, from 7pm until late.
