They say life it what you make it, and for Tamworth’s Andrew Thomas, he plans to make the most of it as he looks to celebrate his 60th birthday later this year, and that is all thanks to the right connections.

In 1986, Andrew was in a motorcycle accident where he sustained an acquired brain injury and shattered his knee causing significant mobility problems.

Left to care for himself, life was becoming increasingly difficult as the years went on, forcing Andrew to seek help, and that is when he found BEST Community Connections.

“BEST Community Connections assists me to get out of the house to run errands, if I have medical appointments or I need to go to the shops, they are always there for me.” said Andrew.

Knocking over a two-year partnership with Connections, Andrew feels his life is more on track to reaching his goals and living his best life.

“All of the staff at BEST Community Connections have always been friendly and really happy to help and I’m very grateful for all of the assistance they have given me.” said Andrew.

BEST Community Connections is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting people, just like Andrew, to live their life, their way.

“Being a part of Andrew’s journey, is why we do what we do” said Kate Ottewell, Marketing Manager BEST Community Connections.

“Watching Andrew meet his goals, set new goals and smash them, is the most amazing feeling and if we can help him, and all of our clients, live a meaningful and happy life, then we are doing the right thing.”

As your local National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provider, BEST Community Connections provides a range of services, such as:

  • School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES)
  • Finding and Keeping a Job
  • Skills and Capacity Building
  • Social Community Participation

“We want to help people to make great choices, build their independence and have control over their future.” said Kate.

“If it’s not happening for you, let’s make it happen together.”

“Life is meant to be lived, and we can help you reconnect with your community, your hobbies, find new hobbies and throw new meaning back into your day.”
