Pathfinders supports local youth with fishing competition and school holiday program

Young people across Inverell, Tingha, and Ashford will have greater access to free activities, community connection, and outdoor experiences during the school holidays through a new initiative from Pathfinders Inverell Family Youth Support Service.

The program includes the Youth Week Fishing Competition 2026 and a series of free, community-based activities designed to bring local families together and support young people aged 12 to 24.

Running from 8am Friday, 3 April, to 5pm Thursday, 16 April 2026, the fishing competition encourages participants to explore local waterways, spend time outdoors, and engage with their community. Entrants can submit photos of their catch for the chance to win prizes, including a major wilderness experience.

The major prize, an Outpost Expedition Package valued at $1800, has been donated by Severn River Outpost and includes accommodation, meals, and a guided fishing experience, highlighting local tourism opportunities in the region.

The competition is free to enter, with participants able to submit multiple entries. The official competition code word will be released on the Pathfinders Facebook page on 2 April 2026.

In addition, Pathfinders will deliver a range of free school holiday programs across the three communities, offering activities such as cooking, craft, and water play, along with free lunch at all locations. The programs are designed to provide safe, inclusive spaces for children, young people, and families during the holiday period.
