What’s On at the Tenterfield Show this weekend!

The Tenterfield Show is back this weekend with all the crowd favourites!

The much-loved Tenterfield Show is set to return to the Tenterfield Showground this February, bringing two big days of tradition, competition and family fun to the region. Held this Friday and Saturday (6-7 February), the annual show continues its proud legacy as one of the district’s most anticipated community events, celebrating agriculture, local talent and the enduring spirit of the New England region.

From the moment the gates open, visitors can expect a full program of classic show attractions alongside fresh entertainment and activities for all ages. Agriculture remains at the heart of the event, with a strong focus on livestock competitions that draw exhibitors from across the region. Cattle, sheep, poultry and other stud and commercial classes will be on display, showcasing the quality of local breeding programs and the dedication of producers. The Merino sheep events, in particular, are a standout on the program, attracting strong competition and interest each year.

Alongside the livestock judging, the show ring will host a range of events highlighting horsemanship and rural skills, providing plenty of action and spectacle throughout both days. These traditional competitions continue to be a major drawcard, offering showgoers the chance to see skilled riders and well-trained horses in action.

For families, the Tenterfield Show offers no shortage of entertainment. Sideshow alley and carnival rides will keep children smiling, while interactive displays, animal experiences and junior competitions encourage younger visitors to get involved. The pavilion competitions also play an important role, with sections dedicated to arts, crafts, cooking, produce and needlework, giving locals the opportunity to showcase their talents and creativity.

The showgrounds will be buzzing with market stalls and trade exhibits, featuring everything from handmade goods and local produce to rural services and community organisations. Food vendors will be serving up classic show favourites alongside a variety of sweet and savoury options, making it easy to spend the entire day enjoying the atmosphere without missing a moment of the action.

As the day rolls into evening, the show takes on a festive feel, with live entertainment adding to the lively country atmosphere. Fireworks are expected to once again light up the Tenterfield sky, providing a spectacular finish to the opening parade on Friday night and a favourite moment for many families attending the show. And don’t miss the ever-popular Demolition Derby on Saturday, featuring local driver Jack Cowin, it’s bound to be smashing great fun!

Run by a dedicated group of volunteers, the Tenterfield Show continues to be a true celebration of community, bringing together locals, visitors, competitors and supporters from across the district. Whether you’re passionate about agriculture, keen to enjoy a fun day out with the family, or simply looking to soak up the sights and sounds of a classic country show, the Tenterfield Show promises two days packed with entertainment and community pride.
