Quirindi Silo Art to light up for annual Christmas show

The award winning Quirindi Silo Art precinct will come alive tonight, 6 December, as the community gathers for the fourth annual Christmas Light and Sound Show.

The popular free event is expected to draw crowds from across the region, offering a festive night packed with entertainment, markets and the unveiling of a brand-new projection show.

“Bring the family, bring your friends, and celebrate the start of the festive season with us,” said Kim Lawler, chairperson of Quirindi Silo Art.

“It is a fantastic free family event, everybody’s welcome and you can even bring your dog on a leash.”

Festivities begin at 5pm at the Station Street complex, where market stalls and food vendors will set the tone for the evening with Christmas shopping, local produce and plenty of dinner options. Cultural performances follow soon after, starting with an Indigenous dance performance at 5:30pm, celebrating local stories and traditions. Erica’s Encore dancers will take the stage from 5:45pm to 6pm, showcasing young talent from the community.

Live music continues the celebration, featuring Brandi Frewin and Xavier Edwards at 6pm. Shortly after, Santa is set to arrive at 6:15pm, giving families a chance to grab a photo and share a moment with the man in red. The official opening ceremony begins at 6:30pm, marking the formal start of the evening’s program.

A Quirindi favourite, the Rotary Christmas chocolate wheel, kicks off at 6:35pm with 15 spins offering a range of prizes. While the wheel turns, visitors can relax and enjoy live performances from Brandi Frewin, Xavier Edwards and Steve Crane.

As the night deepens, anticipation will build for the main attraction. At 8pm the 30-minute countdown begins on the towering silo canvases, signalling the approach of the new 2025 Christmas projection show. At 8:30pm, the lights will dim and the highly anticipated display will illuminate the silos.

“There’s a 30-minute countdown on the silos at 8:30pm, and then the brand-new Christmas light and sound show will be projected,” Lawler said.

And if you’ve been good this year, Santa might just make an appearance too.

“Each year we do a new Christmas story, there are a couple of the old scenes that were in last year but basically it’s a whole new show.”

“It’s a great way to start the Christmas period.”
