Ryan Whillas has been elected as Narrabri Shire’s newest councillor following the 2025 Narrabri Shire Council Countback Election this week.

Narrabri Shire Mayor Darrell Tiemens is looking forward to Mr Whillas joining the council.

“Ryan is a motivated Wee Waa local who has shown his commitment to his community through his many volunteer roles with the Wee Waa Show Society, RFS, and Rotaract,” said Mr Tiemens.

“And he has already shown he is happy to get to work with his swearing-in ceremony and first councillor briefing taking place this afternoon.”

Mr Whillas said he was honoured to have the opportunity to represent his community as a councillor.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in the countback election and congratulate the other candidates who were nominated – I know it was a close result.

“I am proud and humbled to have been elected, and I look forward to working alongside my fellow councillors. My focus will be on serving our shire and its residents, and helping to keep our diverse region moving forward.”

Mr Whillas replaces Joshua Roberts-Garnsey, who resigned from his position as councillor at the end of July.
