GP services coming to the Glen Innes Health Hub

In a win for the bush, GP services are coming to the Glen Innes Health Hub.

From Monday, 26 May, GP services at the Glen Innes Health Hub will include standard appointments, telehealth, chronic disease management plans, mental health care plans and health checks.

Rural Fit Managing Director, Andrew Mahony, said the decision to bring GP services to Glen Innes will help address the doctor shortage throughout the region.

“GP services at the Glen Innes Health Hub eliminates the need for locals to travel hundreds of kilometres to have an appointment with a GP,” Mr Mahony said.

“There are a handful of GPs servicing the Glen Innes Severn Local Government Area of 8,945 people.”

“In the first month, 560 GP appointments will be available at the Glen Innes Health Hub on Grey Street.”

“During extensive consultation with local 2370 residents, 95 per cent said they wanted additional GP services in Glen Innes. The community spoke, and we have listened.”

In addition to GP services, the local community can access the following essential health services, either in person or online at the Glen Innes Health Hub:

•              Diabetes Doctor / Endocrinologist
