Boggabri Transfer Station re-opened

The Boggabri Transfer Station has re-opened following clean-up of asbestos-contaminated waste and official clearance of the site by a hygienist.

The transfer station was originally meant to open on Monday; however, following site clearance and hygienist approval, it was instead opened on Friday, 19 September.

Narrabri Shire Mayor Darrell Tiemens thanked the community for their support during the transfer station closure.

“I really thank the people of Boggabri for their patience while the transfer station was closed,” Mayor Tiemens said.

“I’d also like to thank our Waste team for managing the situation efficiently and safely. We are continuing to pursue those responsible for the illegal dumping that caused such inconvenience.”

Council would like to remind residents that any material containing asbestos is only accepted at the Narrabri Waste Management Facility.

A pre-booking for disposal of this type of waste must be made prior to arrival.

No rural transfer station in the Council area (Boggabri, Wee Waa, Baan Baa, Bellata, Edgeroi, Gwabegar, Pilliga, and Maules Creek) has approval from the EPA to accept asbestos waste.

To make a booking for asbestos waste disposal at Narrabri Landfill, call (02) 6799 6730 or 0427 101 125 at least 48 hours prior to disposal.
