Function meets personality in the arena with -3H Equine, a Quirindi-based western tack and lifestyle brand creating colourful, hardworking gear for riders across regional NSW.
“bar3H Equine is a western tack and lifestyle brand based in Quirindi in the New England region of NSW,” said business owner and tack maker Amy Hodges.
“We specialise in hand-braided horse tack, colourful performance gear for barrel racers and riders, and carefully selected western clothing and accessories.”
With a strong focus on both performance and individuality, -3H Equine has built a reputation for gear that not only stands up to the demands of the arena, but allows riders to express their own style.
“Our focus is creating gear that works hard in the arena but still lets riders show their personality,” Amy said.
The business is owned and run by Amy Hodges, who started -3H Equine after struggling to find the kind of tack she wanted for her daughter, so she made some herself.

“What started as making gear for one horse and rider quickly grew as other riders began asking for the same style of tack.”
Today, Amy continues to handcraft pieces locally while growing the business alongside her family and connecting with the horse community at events across the region.
Amy now runs the business alongside her family while travelling to horse events across regional NSW. She continues to hand braid tack locally while building a growing western brand that supports riders who want gear that performs well and reflects their personality.
At the core of -3H Equine is a commitment to quality, craftsmanship and functionality. Signature products include handmade reins and tack sets, each designed with both performance and aesthetics in mind.

“One of the signature products we make locally are our handmade reins and tack sets.”
“At bar3H Equine we create both hand-braided cord reins and hand-cut leather reins, all made here in Quirindi,” Amy said.
“Our braided reins include joined, split and the increasingly popular stabiliser reins, designed to give riders a more secure and balanced feel in their hands.”
Attention to detail is key, with leather reins hand cut, dyed and finished using kangaroo lace for added grip, texture and colour.

“Many riders choose to match their reins with coordinating breast collars, bridles and tie downs, allowing them to create a full tack set that is both practical and eye-catching.”
“Because each piece is handmade, every set is unique and designed to be used and enjoyed by riders wherever they ride.”
With strong ties to the local horse community and a growing presence across regional NSW, -3H Equine is proving that practical gear doesn’t have to be plain — it can be bold, personal and built to perform.
