Major NBN fibre upgrade milestone reached in Wee Waa

More than 900 homes and businesses in Wee Waa are now eligible to upgrade to full fibre through the National Broadband Network’s Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) service.

The upgrade allows eligible premises to access faster and more reliable broadband, enabling smoother high-resolution video calls, enhanced streaming, faster downloads and improved capacity to connect multiple devices at once.

This milestone follows the introduction of speed boosts on higher-tier NBN plans, including new multi-gigabit offerings – part of NBN Co’s broader push to meet rising national data demands.

According to NBN Co, the average Australian household now consumes 443 gigabytes of data per month across 22 internet-connected devices. Just 10 years ago, the average was 40 gigabytes across around seven devices.

“Households are consuming more data than ever for the things they love, like streaming 4K on multiple devices, online education, next-level gaming, conference calls, and uploading and downloading large files for work,” said Head of nbn Local NSW, Tom O’Dea.

“Australians deserve access to fast, effective broadband, regardless of whether they live in a major city or a country town.

“I encourage the local community to participate in our upcoming nbn local events to discover how full fibre can benefit them.”
