Jammin’ On The Green will not only bring great music to Inverell tomorrow night, but also help out the community.
Valentine’s Day is extra-special in the town as Jammin’ On The Green returns for its second year with powerhouse vocalist Lisa Hunt headlining the concert joined by a range of local talent.
Event organiser Chloe Nicholls said the concept was born last year when members of the committee wanted to rally around a mate who was unwell.
“A couple of the guys got together and wanted to do something to get everyone involved and raise a bit of money,” she said.
“He actually said no to wanting any of the funds but wanted to get on board and help other families.”
The $24,000 raised from the inaugural event was divided between six local families in the form of vouchers for butchers, fuel stations and everyday essentials.
“Whether they were dealing with illness or the kids were sick or just having a rough time, really, it was for anyone that needed help,” Chloe said.
This year organisers are aiming to raise even more money for the community.
“We’ve had massive support this year. We’re pretty confident that we’ll raise more money,” Chloe said.
Local businesses have thrown their weight behind the event, purchasing $1000 marquee packages that include promotion, entry tickets and food and drink vouchers. Others have donated raffle prizes, chairs, meat and bread.
“It’s just been amazing. Everyone here is so great for that,” Chloe said.
The music line-up blends local favourites with a headline act. Starting at 3pm, 12-year-old Peyton Childs will open the afternoon before Jono and Vanessa Wills, Fat Hardy and Bernie Killen, Mr Jones and Me, Brock Mathers, and 3 Days to Friday take to the stage with Lisa Hunt wrapping up the show.
Most artists have donated their time to help their fellow locals.
As well as music, there will be the beloved yabby races, an auction and raffle and street food, along with a Kissing Booth… it’s Valentine’s Day, after all, and you can bring your loved one down and grab a romantic photo of you both.
Ticket sales are already ahead of last year, with around 350 sold mid-week, about 100 more than the same time in 2025. Organisers are hoping to see numbers push towards 400, with tickets available online or at the gate at the Sporties from 2pm.
While most attendees are local, a group of about 20 caravanners from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast are also travelling down for the event.
Nominations for families who may need assistance remain open, and funds can be distributed beyond the event itself.
“It doesn’t have to be now. If in six months’ time a family needs help, it’s there for them,” Chloe said.
