A familiar and much-loved name in Inverell’s home brewing scene is entering a new chapter, with The Brew Shed Inverell now finding a new home inside Inverell H Hardware & Paint Place.
For more than a decade, The Brew Shed has been a trusted destination for local home brewers, offering specialist equipment, ingredients and friendly, hands-on advice. While the original Brew Shed chapter has now closed, its legacy — and its support for the local brewing community — continues through this new partnership.
Former owners Darryl and Jane, who built the Brew Shed into a community staple over 12 years, recently shared a heartfelt message thanking customers for their loyalty and friendship.
“That’s a wrap!
We would like to thank all our customers who we have gotten to know very well over the last 12 years. We appreciate your support and friendship.
We aren’t leaving town so you will still see us around.
For all your home brewing needs please visit Inverell H Hardware in Brisset St.”

Their message reflects the strong community ties that have defined The Brew Shed since its beginnings, ties that Inverell H Hardware & Paint Place is now proudly carrying forward.
Customers visiting the Brisset Street store will find a dedicated Brew Shed offering within the hardware space, ensuring local brewers continue to have access to quality home brewing supplies without needing to travel or shop online. From beginner starter kits and fermenters to ingredients and accessories, the range is designed to cater to brewers at every stage of their journey.
Office Manager for Inverell H Hardware, Jessie Higgins, said welcoming The Brew Shed into the business was an exciting new phase for the hardware store.
“The feedback we’ve had from the local community has been really positive so far,” she said.
“We’ve all got lots to learn about the brewing side of things, but we’re all very keen, and we hope that we do Darryl and Jane proud.”
“We’ve still got a few finishing touches to put on things, but we’re 90% there.”
Inverell H Hardware & Paint Place has long been recognised as a cornerstone of the local retail community, supplying everything from tools and paint to building and DIY essentials. Adding home brewing supplies reflects a broader commitment to meeting the evolving interests of the community while keeping specialist products available locally.
“We’ve kept as much of the original Brew Shed product lines – so all the supplies for beers and spirits, as well as their smoking equipment and rubs, spices and sauces. The only thing we really had to let go was the fresh produce side of things, things like cheeses and sourdoughs,” said Ms Higgins.
Home brewing continues to grow in popularity across regional Australia, offering a creative and rewarding hobby for many. Having a local supplier also creates opportunities for shared knowledge, advice and connection, values that both The Brew Shed and Inverell H Hardware & Paint Place have long championed.
Looking ahead, the new arrangement may also open the door to future in-store advice sessions, demonstrations or community engagement opportunities, further strengthening Inverell’s home brewing scene.
While Darryl and Jane may have stepped back from running the business, their impact remains deeply felt. With The Brew Shed now part of Inverell H Hardware & Paint Place, local brewers can be confident that the spirit of the business, and the community it helped build, will continue to thrive.
