Mr Robert (Rob) Sieben BSc DipEd MEd (Ed Admin) has been appointed to the Southern New England Landcare board’s at the August 13 meeting, bringing significant skills and experience in information technology, business management, human resources, fundraising, marketing, and governance, accrued over a forty-year career.

“Rob’s long and meritorious career in a range of publicly listed and private businesses, along with his senior executive and governance experience, is very relevant to Southern New England Landcare.” said Southern New England Landcare Board Chair Emeritus Professor Nick Reid.

Rob is excited for the challenge ahead.

“I recently retired and have an interest in utilising the skills I developed during my career in education and the business sector for a community-based not-for-profit like Southern New England Landcare,” said Rob.

Skills audits conducted over the last two years at Southern New England Landcare identified legal and financial skills gaps among the board of directors.

“A new membership policy adopted by Southern New England Landcare in August 2024 allows for up to four of the maximum 10 directors to be ‘skills based’,” said Reid.

“This is to help ensure the organisation has access to a broad range of appropriate high-level skills and experience in its decision making and governance processes,” he said.

Rob’s most recent senior administrative position was Operations Manager/Senior Education Consultant with Hutton Consulting Australia, an Australian-based education specialist.

Rob has been accredited as a trainer for the Department of Child Protection’s Child Safe Environments program, and is a recipient of the ACEL National Fellowship Award for significant contribution to educational leadership at the state and/or national level.

Up until 2021, Rob was Secretary of the SA State Executive of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders, and Treasurer of the board of directors of Educators SA (CEASA).

Based in South Australia, modern telecommunications will allow Rob to play an active role on the board and Southern New England Landcare is excited to welcome Rob to the team.
