A weekend jam packed full of printmaking activities will be held at NERAM this weekend (May 2 to 4, 2025).

Wimble’s Wayzgoose – a vibrant weekend honouring the legacy of Australian print pioneer F.T. Wimble and hosted by NERAM’s Museum of Printing (MoP) – is an annual event that brings together artists, printmakers, and enthusiasts for hands-on workshops, talks and community celebrations.

“Wimble’s Wayzgoose is a celebration of Australia’s rich printing legacy,” said Black Gully Printmakers president Emily Simson.

“By honouring Frederick Thomas Wimble, one of the pioneers of Australia’s regional print industry, we connect the history of ink and type with a new generation of printmakers, artists, and enthusiasts. It’s a chance to see, touch, and participate in the tactile magic of print.”

An enthusiastic group of volunteers has put together the weekend’s program of events that include an Ink & Drink with Moveable Type Studio workshop; a Chromatic Wood Type Printing workshop with Wayne Thompson; a printer’s picnic; a print swap; a celebration dinner and the weekend culminates in the making of a large community woodblock print between 1 and 1.30pm on Sunday May 4.

“This weekend brings together a unique mix of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary creativity. From the hands-on workshops and community-led print swaps to the festive Ink & Drink event, there’s a strong spirit of camaraderie and shared passion,” said Ms Simson.

“It’s a space where everyone – from seasoned printers to the simply curious – can get involved, learn something new, and make a lasting impression. We encourage everyone to come along and take part in one or all the wonderful events on offer.”
