A monster garage sale packed with furniture, household treasures and one-off finds is set to take over Flanders House later this month, and organisers say everything must go.
The two-day sale, running Friday 20 February and Saturday 21 February 2026, is being held on behalf of Legacy Inverell, with all proceeds supporting the vital work the organisation does for veterans’ families across the region.
Run by dedicated volunteers Kerry and Geoff Caban, the event promises an impressive array of donated goods – and this is no ordinary clean-out.
“We have over two whole households’ worth of items that need to be sold,” General Manager of the Legacy Club of Inverell, Lyn Kitawal said. “There’s furniture, electrical items, bric-a-brac, linen, cushions – a really wide variety of quality household goods.”
Importantly, Ms Kitawal stressed that the items are not sourced from the Inverell Legacy Op Shop.
“These are not items from the Inverell Op Shop,” she said. “They have been generously donated from estates, and there is a lot of wonderful, practical furniture and household pieces looking for new homes.”
Shoppers can expect everything from larger furniture pieces to smaller decorative and practical items, making it an ideal opportunity for those setting up a home, refreshing a space, or hunting for a unique bargain. However, organisers have confirmed there will be no clothing available at this sale.
With such a substantial volume of goods on offer, the message is clear: come early and be ready to buy.
“There is lots of stuff to go, and it all needs to be sold on the day,” Ms Kitawal said.
The sale will be cash only, so attendees are encouraged to come prepared. To help buyers plan ahead, photos of selected items will be posted on Facebook in the days leading up to the event, giving the community a sneak peek of what will be available.
Flanders House provides convenient access for shoppers, with parking available out front. For those purchasing larger items, collection will be easy, with pick-up available from the driveway between Flanders Street and the RSL.
Legacy has a long and proud history of supporting the families of veterans who have given their lives or health in service of their country. Funds raised locally through events like this garage sale help ensure that widows, children and dependants receive practical assistance, advocacy and ongoing care when they need it most.
Community members are encouraged to drop in, grab a bargain and support a cause that continues to make a meaningful difference in Inverell.
There is no entry fee to attend the Monster Garage Sale, making it an easy way for the whole community to get involved. Every dollar raised across the two days will go directly to Legacy, helping to continue its vital support of veterans’ families in the Inverell district. By picking up a bargain, shoppers will also be contributing to a cause that makes a lasting difference locally.
The Monster Garage Sale will be held at Flanders House on Friday 20 February and Saturday 21 February 2026. Keep an eye on Legacy Inverell’s Facebook page for preview photos and further details.
