Communities invited to pause and reflect this Remembrance Day

To honour the courage and sacrifice of Australia’s service men and women, communities across the country are invited to pause for one minute’s silence at 11am this Remembrance Day, Tuesday 11 November.

This year’s Poppy Appeal offers a new opportunity for Australians to show their support for veterans and their families. For the first time, digital poppies can be dedicated online in memory of a loved one. By visiting poppyappeal.com.au, Australians can purchase and personalise a virtual poppy, and share their tribute with friends and family.

Funds raised through the appeal directly support veterans and their families across New South Wales.

How to mark Remembrance Day

Pause for a minute
At 11 am on the 11th of November, Australians are asked to observe one minute’s silence in honour of those who served and died in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. Set a reminder, turn on Do Not Disturb, and take a moment to reflect.

Wear a poppy
The red poppy is a national symbol of remembrance. Wear one on your lapel to honour the human cost of war. You can purchase a poppy from your local RSL Sub-Branch or virtual poppies can also be dedicated online at poppyappeal.com.au.

Commemorate locally
Find your local RSL Sub-Branches and attend a Remembrance Day ceremony.

Lend a hand
Supporting veterans can be as simple as offering practical help- mowing a lawn, assisting with shopping, or having a cuppa and a chat. Contact your local RSL Sub-Branch to find out how you can help.

Remember
Lest we forget.
