Perfect evening for NEGS Twilight Fair

The weather was perfectly pleasant and the atmosphere humming for a successful NEGS Twilight Fair on Friday evening.

Dozens of visitors enjoyed the annual night of entertainment, food and Christmas shopping in what has become one of Armidale’s most popular community events.

Crowd favourites included the spectacular dog jumping display by BackTrack, where some dogs thrilled the audience by leaping more than two metres high. The little star of the show, Whiskey, stole hearts when he cleared six feet with a little help from a “stairway to heaven” formed by a line of enthusiastic children.

Student performances early in the night showcased the creativity and confidence of NEGS students, while local musicians kept the energy going as the evening continued, creating a warm and festive atmosphere under the lights.

Market stalls offered plenty of Christmas gift inspiration, with jewellery and lollies among the most popular items—much to the delight of NEGS boarders. The ever-popular pony rides also drew a crowd, with smiling children lining up for their turn.

Principal Liz van Genderen credited the success of the fair to the dedication and teamwork of the school community.

“We’re really happy with the turn out and the evening has gone so well,” she said.

“It is a lot of work by both the girls and teachers, months of work to get it all organised, but a wonderful result.”

All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting NEGS educational programs and resources, helping enrich student learning experiences throughout the year.
