Several hundred people are expected to gather to celebrate Quirindi High School’s 90th anniversary reunion in October.

Committee chairperson Jeff Galbraith said a weekend of festivities will be held from 24 to 26 October.

“There will be informal get-togethers around town on Friday, 24 October to kick off the weekend,” said Mr Galbraith.

“On Saturday, 25 October at 11am, we will have a parade from the post office to the school, followed by an official welcome as well as a school tour and displays in the hall.”

“This will be a great opportunity for past students to relive some of their memories of a school that was very important in their education and see some of the great changes that have been made to the school over the years.”

“The remainder of Saturday will be free for former students and teachers to reminisce and reacquaint with each other.”

Meanwhile, the evening of 25 October will be busy with individual school year dinners held at various venues.

“Those attending dinners will need to book, and entertainment has been organised afterwards at Club Quirindi,” Mr Galbraith said.

Sunday will bring more opportunity to catch up with old schoolmates, teachers, and staff at a barbecue breakfast at the High School run by the school P&C group.

There will also be regular morning church services in town.

“We are excited to hold a whole of school reunion weekend celebration of 90 years of Quirindi High School and expect up to 700 people to attend,” Mr Galbraith said.

“There will be staff and students from years ago, possibly dating back to the 1950s.”

“It should be a fantastic weekend of nostalgia and friendship, and anyone who has spent time at Quirindi High is welcome to attend.”
